Although the quiet neighborhoods appeal to people looking for an escape from the crowds and noise of downtown, there are still plenty of amenities to enjoy. For instance, several fine eateries have been serving the needs of residents for decades.

Dining, Entertainment, & Shopping

The Falls is a short drive from Pinecrest and features an open-air complex that houses over 100 well-known shops and restaurants. The Pinecrest Farmers’ Market, held every Sunday from 9 am to 2 pm, is located at Pinecrest Gardens and offers fresh produce, artisan crafts, world-class coffee, and prepared food items.
 
Trattoria Luna has been a neighborhood staple since 1997, serving Tuscan-style meals with hearty lunch and dinner specials. The Peruvian-inspired Platea Prime Steakhouse & Ceviche Bar combine bold flavors and excellent service for a delightful fine dining experience.
 
The Pinecrest Bakery keeps its doors open around the clock, offering fresh-baked goods, breakfast sandwiches with a Cuban flair, and café con Leche any time of day or night.

Things to Do

Pinecrest has several community parks that offer walking paths, lighted biking trails, playgrounds, and green areas to enjoy the outdoors. The Matheson Hammock Park & Marina is a fantastic place to cool off and enjoy the quiet sheltered beach. The frequent breezes make it a favorite spot for kiteboarders, and locals love the easy access to nature trails, a public boat launch, and swimming at a man-made pool.
 
Across the street from Matheson Hammock is the No. 1 Botanic Garden in the U.S., the Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden. It offers hands-on activities, guided tram tours, and butterfly gardens and is home to the country's only outdoor tropical rainforest experience.
 
At Pinecrest Gardens, visitors can enjoy the 20-acre historical park featuring botanical gardens, a petting zoo, a water playground, and an outdoor theater. The Deering Estate is a 444-acre preserve and historical site that offers guided tours, monthly events, and artists-in-residence programs.
 
Zoo Miami provides visitors the chance to see more than 2,000 exotic animals. The zoo uses moats instead of cages to provide a more natural habitat. For those looking for a uniquely intimate experience with African and Asian big cats, the Zoological Wildlife Foundation offers one-on-one appointments to view animals from around the world up close and personal.
